The human body and its systems are a true feat of nature. Human society has adapted and evolved over thousands of years to become the most advanced creatures on earth.
Every cell in the human body is there to perform a specific task as well as support the functionality of the body but to work properly they rely on receiving nutrients from animals and plants.

More and more, doctors and medical practitioners believe that all diseases in the human body could be a direct result of nutrient deficiency. Both mineral and vitamin deficiencies cause different illnesses, diseases and deliberating issues. For instance, if a person doesn’t get vitamin C for a period of time there is a good chance they will develop a skin condition called ‘Scurvy’.  Along with a nasty skin condition, if left untreated this illness can cause death.

Scientists discovered the endocannabinoid system or ECS around 1990. It’s a group of endogenous cannabinoid receptors situated in the brain and the peripheral and central nervous systems. These receptors affect overall well-being in the body in addition to regulating bodily functions such as sleeping and eating. They are also involved in physiological procedures such as pain sensation, appetite, memory and mood and also in mediating all the psychoactive effects of cannabis.

Before 1937,  phytocannabinoids (which trigger the ECS system) were readily available in everyone’s food supply. Back in this time, oils and tinctures similar to CBD Ultra products were used to fortify food formulations which were consumed on a daily basis across the globe.  Food was cooked in hemp oils and grounded up parts of the hemp plant were used as nutritional food supplements.  People also fed hemp seeds and grains to domestic animals such as chickens, cattle, and pigs as it’s jam-packed with essential amino acids and high protein. As people used to consume livestock, phytocannabinoids from the hemp were passed to humans through milk or meat. Mothers would then pass these phytocannabinoids to babies while breastfeeding.

Cannabis Sativa which includes hemp is considered to be one of the most useful medicinal plants available on earth.  As it grows naturally in most parts of the world, its history can be traced well beyond the beginning of civilization. As this plant has always been used as a source of food, medicine, and fibre to prepare sails, clothes and ropes etc it comes as no surprise that both humans and animals have similar systems of cells that have evolved together, nourished and replenished by phytocannabinoids derived from hemp and cannabis.

Unfortunately during the 1930’s, after nylon was invented by the DuPont Chemical Company, both the company and its powerful investors tried to ban all types of cannabis, especially hemp. They become successful in demonizing the plant and producing hemp was banned. As a result, phytocannabinoids were effectively removed from the human food supply chain. This caused great harm to the health and well-being of mankind, and was instrumental in the evolvement of a  generational deficiency in cannabinoids across the globe.

Since then, modern research has proven that there is a direct relationship between the complete removal of phytocannabinoids from the food supply and the ever-increasing rate of autoimmune and neurodegenerative diseases. There is hope though as cannabis and hemp are showing exceptional promise as a natural treatment for some of these serious conditions.

In conclusion, phytocannabinoids are certainly vital nutrients and should be categorised as such. As ignorance regarding this essential nutrient and plant continues to wane, more people will hopefully get to experience what they have been missing most of their lives. Ideally, we should get to a position where the phytocannabinoid content of a food item is printed on the label like with any other essential nutrient or vitamin! Research shows that the fat accumulated from hemp seeds contains lots of healthy components and fatty acids such as Omega 6 and Omega 3. According to Wikipedia, 100 grams of hulled hemp seeds supplies 586 calories. They are 5% water, 5% carbohydrates, 49% total fat and 31% protein. Hemp seeds are also noted for providing 64% of the recommended Daily Value (DV) of protein per 100-gram serving.

The sooner that governments recognise that the prohibition of cannabis is detrimental to the health of mankind, the sooner the world can start rediscovering health in a natural way.

  2. I think the growth of CBD oils will continue in 2018 as well. In the investment sector, cannabis stocks should also be taken into consideration. The entire marijuana market has been growing globally for several years as more and more countries adopt more tolerant regulations.

  3. Carrots, brassicas, black pepper, and echinacea are also high in phytocannabinoids.. just don’t tell the pharmaceutical companies or they will have them banned for sure.
